Genna Somers, LCSW

Licensed Therapist & Clinical Supervisor

Therapy for Adults & Couples in Patchogue, NY

Genna works primarily with adults and couples navigating anxiety, OCD, depression, bipolar disorder, relationship concerns, and other life challenges. She takes a thoughtful, individualized approach that considers not only what a client is experiencing now, but also the experiences, relationships, and family dynamics that may have shaped how they function today.

Genna believes understanding a person’s background can provide valuable insight into current concerns. Even when therapy is focused on a specific issue, she helps clients explore underlying patterns and consider how past experiences may influence their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviors.

Drawing from Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Family Systems approaches, Genna provides a supportive, warm, and engaging environment for greater self-understanding and meaningful change.

How I Can Help

Support for emotional challenges, recurring patterns, and greater self-understanding.

Manage anxiety with practical coping strategies.

What You Can Expect in Therapy

Thoughtful, engaging therapy that looks beyond symptoms to understand the whole person.

Genna takes time to learn about who you are, where you come from, and the experiences that have shaped you. Sessions may explore upbringing, family relationships, and past experiences to better understand how they connect with what is happening in your life today.

While understanding the past can be an important part of therapy, sessions remain connected to the concerns that brought you in. Genna works collaboratively with clients to identify recurring patterns, develop greater self-awareness, and consider new ways of responding to challenges.

Clients can expect a warm, supportive, and engaging environment where there is space for both reflection and meaningful change.
